How to look after your extensions
If you have had hair extensions, or are a recently qualified hair extensionist, it is worth knowing how to take care of the hair extensions in order to get the best out of them. Below are some hints and tips on how to get the best out of your beautiful new hair.
Brushing Your Hair
When brushing your hair it is always best to use a large soft bristle brush. We recommend using the Balmain brush which has soft bristles at different lengths to ensure that the extensions and your natural hair are not snagged or caught in the bristles.
It is best to start brushing your hair at the ends then move up to the mid length area and finally the roots. At night hair should be loosely tied back in a simple plait to prevent tangling overnight.
Using a Balmain brush will leave hair shiny and in optimum condition.
Washing Your Hair:
We recommend that your hair is always washed with a specially formulated hair extension shampoo and conditioner. We currently stock the X10 range of aftercare products to leave your hair soft, silky, shiny and smooth. Your hair should be washed in an upright position, as in the shower rather than in the bath as this helps prevent any tangling. Remember your hair extensions do not get the natural oils your own hair produces so it is important to replenish any moisture lost in everyday wear. The X10 shampoo and conditioning range are specially formulated to give deep cleansing and creamy conditioning. The leave in conditioning mist allows you to replenish your hair's moisture in between washes and the shine serum keeps it smooth and radiantly shiny.
Drying and Styling:
NEVER towel dry your hair by roughly rubbing it. ALWAYS squeeze the water out to the ends then gently wrap in a towel turban style, or use a Turbie Twist.
